Hello Ball Hockey Families,
The purpose of this e-mail is to advise you of the upcoming opportunity for our Vipers players to try out for Team BC squads in the various age groups. These Provincial teams will compete at the Junior National Ball Hockey Championships in Saskatoon Saskatchewan from July 23-27, 2024. As in years past, we have arranged for the Team BC assessors to travel to the Island and host open try-outs for our players in Victoria. They will be here on May 7-8 for evening sessions at Panorama Recreation Centre. We have time blocked off from 6-9 PM both of those nights and age group times will be determined by registration numbers. It is mandatory that your player attend at least 1 (preferably both) of these sessions should they wish to be considered for the second phase of try-outs, which is an invitation only for the top 30 players in each age group, from all BC associations. This phase of try-outs will take place in Vancouver at the end of May.
Due to BC Ball Hockey’s current inability to accept payment for the program, all registrations are being handled through Tri-Cities Minor Ball Hockey Association. This was discussed by all minor association presidents and decided that having one association handle the registrations and collect the try-out fees was the most logical approach. I have included a link at the end of this e-mail for registration should your player be interested in trying out for this high-performance program. Registration will close on April 28 so please register early. Our association has been extremely well represented on past teams and I have no doubt that we will continue to compete for spots at every age group, given the amazing talent level that we currently have in our program. The link will take you to a Spordle registration that is specific to Team BC but set up through Tri-Cities. It does not take long to fill out the registration form and the cost per player to try-out is $80. This fee goes straight back into the Team BC program and helps to cover off registration and travel costs for the players.
The age groups that will be representing British Columbia at this National tournament are as follows:
U15 Boys ( Players born in 2009, 2010, 2011)
U17 Boys (Players born in 2007, 2008)
U19 Boys (Players born in 2005, 2006)
U17 G (Players born in 2007 or later)
U20 Girls ( Players born in 2004, 2005, 2006)
